Western Pressure Aimed at Frustrating Ethiopia’s Regional Integration Plans: Political Analyst

The multidimensional pressures of Western countries on Ethiopia ensue from the desire to thwart the government’s ongoing efforts to realize regional integration and economic liberalization in East Africa, a political analyst said.

The political analyst, Assefa Adane said the new reformist administration under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed raised great hope among East African countries and beyond for its vision of bringing about unity and harmony in the region.

Unfortunately, the Western powers are disappointed by the ongoing effort of Ethiopia which  champions regional integration and pushing for economic liberalization in the region.

As a result, the United States of America in particular, is giving unreasonable support to the terrorist TPLF, he added.

“When the reformist group came to power, it first solved the long-standing conflict with Eritrea. The government also took a bold decision to forge stronger regional ties in East Africa by mobilizing Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda,” the analyst elaborated.

According to Assefa, Western countries that have been considered friends of Ethiopia have now in fact proved to be enemies.

After the Victory of Adwa Ethiopia became a symbol of independence and Africans liberated themselves by taking on the exemplary spirit that blacks could win whites, he noted.

The political analyst believes that the West does not only hate the exemplary role of Ethiopia but also the current policy economic and political direction in the African continent.

“I think the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, the country’s Homegrown Economy and the effort of the nation to develop its basins are the main reasons for the current pressures,” Assefa revealed.

Because of this America and its allies have been mobilizing their forces and documenting a strategy to attack Ethiopia, the analyst stated, adding that the support for the terrorist TPLF emanates from this ill-intended plan.

Assefa said TPLF has embezzled about 30 billion USD and took it out of the country over the past three decades. The money stolen is being used to hire lobbyists and bribe the international media.

As a result, CNN is fabricating news about Ethiopia every day and the nine so-called opposition groups that signed an agreement in the United States to form alliance against the legitimate government seem to be bought, the political analyst pointed out.

Those individuals in the alliance do not have their own political agenda and administrative capacity rather they are a group of unemployed people brought together by TPLF and supported by the  United States, he said.

Despite tremendous challenges and excessive pressure from the West, especially from the US, the political analyst noted that all Ethiopians have astonishingly come together to thwart the threat posed by foreign and domestic enemies.
