The Worldwide Italian Language Week Inauguration at AAU
The worldwide celebration of the XXI week, 18th-23rd October, of the Italian Language inaugurated at Ras Mekonnen Hall of Addis Ababa University (AAU) on Monday, 18th of October 2021.
It was stated in the event that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organizes the worldwide Italian Language Week every year and this year’s event is dedicated to Dante Alighieri (1265- 1321), a Great Italian Poet, Writer and Philosopher in commemoration of the 700th anniversary of his death.
Dante Alighieri is known as the ‘’Father’’ of the Italian Language and his poem ‘’The Divine Comedy’’ is widely considered among the most important masterpieces of all world literature and a land mark in Italian culture, as stated in the occasion.
Different scholars, researchers as well as students presented from Dante’s works by translating into different languages during the conference held at AAU.
It was announced that the conference will continue with presenting music, theatre, art gallery and cultural exchanges at Ethiopian National Theatre and other places.
Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document, revised by Prof. Enrico Terrinoni, a person in charge of International Relations at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, was submitted to AAU.
AAU accepted the draft MoU and forwarded to the Office of External Relations, Partnerships and Communications for further processes.
