The Gov’t of Ethiopia is Committed to Ensure the Safety and Wellbeing of its Citizens in the Tigray Region
It is to be recalled that the TPLF violated the humanitarian truce unilaterally declared by the Government of Ethiopia on 24th of March 2021, by launching a third-round offensive and invading parts of Amhara and Afar regions. The fact remains that TPLF’s repeated military incursions have endangered civilians in the Afar, Amhara, and Tigray regions.
Accordingly, the Government of Ethiopia was left with no option other than defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as safeguarding the constitutional order. It is incumbent upon the Government of Ethiopia to maintain effective control over its national airspace and international borders. The federal government is also entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring control over airports and key infrastructural facilities in the Tigray region.
To achieve its objective of meeting the demands of the people, the federal government works around-the-clock to bring stability in the Tigray region. In such line, the ENDF is taking at most care and does not seek to engage in urban combat to avoid civilian casualties.
Contrary to the unfounded claims of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in the wake of the ongoing defensive measures, the Government of Ethiopia has begun to deliver humanitarian aid and medical supplies. Indeed, the Government of Ethiopia is committed to expediting aid delivery to all in need of assistance, starting with those in areas under its control.
