Sakumono Gears Up for the Ninth Edition of Viva Cristo Rey Concert
Sakumono, Ghana – The Christ the King Anglican Church (CKAC), Sakumono, is set to host the ninth edition of the Viva Cristo Rey Gospel Concert this weekend on Saturday, November 18, 2023. The event, a part of the Parish’s evangelism initiative, aligns with the 2023 Anglican Diocese of Accra’s theme of ‘Affirmative Discipleship’.
According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) , this year’s concert, named ‘Viva Cristo Rey 9.0 – A Nite with the King’, will take place at the Holy Child School Park in Sakumono at 1700 hours. The concert will feature renowned gospel artist Minister Kweku Teye, alongside other notable gospel musicians and groups such as Kings Praise (Host Band), CKAC Choir, Courageous Voices, and Royal Vine Gospel Jama Group.
The previous edition of the concert showcased various gospel groups, including the Blessed Harp Choir, Sanctified Voices, and Chosen Vessels. The Viva Cristo Rey concerts have historically featured performances by some of Ghana’s gospel music luminaries, such as Uncle Ato, Pastor Joe Beechem, and Joe Mettle.
The concert is expected to attract worshippers from churches in the Sakumono area and beyond for an evening of worship, praise, and prayer. The Organising Committee anticipates a spirit-filled atmosphere, aiming to fulfill the Great Commission of spreading the gospel of Christ.
Rev’d Fr. Roland Kpoanu, the Parish Priest of CKAC, emphasized the concert’s role as a powerful evangelism tool and invited Christians and non-Christians from Sakumono, Tema, and nearby areas to experience this spiritual event. Mr. Paul Yeboah Asuamah, People’s Warden at CKAC, highlighted that the concert would offer a mix of electrifying performances and prayer, creating a sacred experience for attendees.
