Residents still scarred by fighting in Ethiopia’s Lalibela

The historic Ethiopian city of Lalibela was occupied in 2021 by soldiers for five months during the country’s civil war. The conflict left its scars on the ancient heritage site known for its churches carved out of living rock and, six months after a peace agreement was signed, Lalibela is still struggling to recover from the economic impact of the conflict.
