Repatriating Citizens from Saudi Arabia Will Continue: Foreign Affairs State Minister
Repatriating of Ethiopians living under harsh situations in Saudi Arabia will continue in an intensified manner, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano said.
It is to be recalled that the government of Ethiopia established national repatriation committee for citizens from Saudi Arabia and other countries that comprised of members from 16 sector offices.
The repatriation of citizens from Saudi Arabia has been resumed today with the arrival of some 1,170 Ethiopians.
The returnees were warmly welcomed by State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano along with other government officials at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
During the occasion, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the National Committee, Ambassador Birtukan said the repatriation of Ethiopians living under harsh situation in Saudi Arabia will continue in an intensified manner.
Noting the government had so far managed to repatriate more than 71,600 citizens, Ambassador Birtukan said more than 30,000 Ethiopians will be repatriated in the repatriation activities that officially resumed today.
The government of Ethiopia has carried out adequate preparations in partnership with other entities to realizing the stated plan, the State Minister added.
