President Says Multinationalism Solid Foundation for Ethiopian Unity

Multinationalism is a solid foundation for the unity of Ethiopia, President Sahle-Work Zewde said.

The 16th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day was celebrated in Dire Dawa city today.

During the occasion, the president said multinationalism is a strong foundation for unity; and Ethiopia has been a country where the coexistence of people with different languages, religions, and cultures is demonstrated.

Although this is a time the country is faced with many challenges as its resources are destroyed and displacements are rampant, dawn will replace a night as peace takes succeeds war.

The president stressed that all citizens should exert to rebuild the infrastructures destroyed by the war.

Supporting people displaced by the war is also important, she added.

President Sahle-Work thanked the National Defense Force and Special Forces for sacrificing their lives for the survival of the nation and the diaspora for their contribution to diplomatic efforts.

Speaker of the House of Federation Agegnehu Teshager said on his part “while celebrating this day, we must remain united and work together for the common good and mutual benefits.”

The terrorist group TPLF had crossed the red line of the Ethiopian nations and nationalities and peoples, he added.

Islamic Affairs Supreme Council President, Mufti Haji Umer Idris and other federal and regional government officials have also attended the celebration.
