JOHANNESBURG: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed delivered a significant address at the 16th BRICS Summit’s closed plenary session this morning, focusing on the theme of “Strengthening multilateralism for just global development and security.” His remarks highlighted Ethiopia’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and equitable development.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the plenary session marked an important milestone for Ethiopia, which was invited to join the BRICS group in 2023. Ethiopia’s membership is set to officially commence in January 2024. Prime Minister Abiy’s speech underscored Ethiopia’s dedication to the principles of multilateralism and its aspirations for contributing to global stability and growth within the BRICS framework.
