NTA Debunks Claims of Low Local Recruitment at Khorixas Vocational Training Centre
Khorixas: The Namibia Training Authority (NTA) has refuted claims of low recruitment of Khorixas locals at the newly opened Khorixas Vocational Training Centre, describing the allegations as unfounded. The concerns were raised by the Khorixas community, who felt marginalized in the hiring process at the institution.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the allegations surfaced after local residents observed that the majority of positions at the training center were apparently filled by individuals from other towns. This situation was particularly alarming for the locals amid increasing unemployment rates in their area. A resident expressed frustration, noting, “Khorixas residents aren’t even employed as cleaners at the institution.”
In response to these claims, NTA spokesperson Mornay Louw addressed the issue, stating that the recruitment process adheres strictly to the NTA’s Recruitment and Selection Policy, which is in compliance with national legislation and labor requirements. Louw emphasized that the all
egations lack a factual basis and confirmed that the training center’s staff includes three cleaners, one driver, and one receptionist from Khorixas, thereby demonstrating the institution’s commitment to local employment.
The NTA’s response highlights its efforts to implement fair hiring practices and to contribute positively to the local community by providing job opportunities.
