Newly Accredited Ambassadors Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Ethiopia.
Addis Ababa: The newly accredited ambassadors from twelve countries have expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Ethiopia. These ambassadors presented their credentials to Ethiopia’s President, Taye Atske Selassie, during a ceremony held in the early hours of the afternoon today.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the ambassadors representing Mexico, Sudan, Nicaragua, Iran, Gabon, Belgium, China, Ghana, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, and the Netherlands, shared their intentions to deepen the diplomatic ties between their respective countries and Ethiopia. Denmark’s Ambassador, Sune Krogstrup, emphasized the historical relationship between Denmark and Ethiopia, noting the ongoing cooperation in sectors like agriculture, forestry, sustainable energy, and resilience building for vulnerable groups.
Krogstrup further highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic importance within Africa, expressing optimism about expanding trade and investment opportunities. Similarly, Iranian Ambassador Ali Akbar Rezaie
expressed his honor and gratitude for the opportunity to represent Iran in Ethiopia, underscoring the potential for cooperation in economy, education, and technology.
Sudanese Ambassador Elzein Ebrahim shared his gratitude upon presenting his credentials and conveyed greetings from the Sudanese government and people to the Ethiopian President. He acknowledged the historical ties and pledged to strengthen the bilateral relationship further, especially in light of recent regional challenges.
Ambassador Alejandro Ives from Mexico highlighted potential areas for collaboration, particularly in agriculture, diaspora engagement, and tourism, while stressing the importance of South-South cooperation. Meanwhile, Israel’s Ambassador, Abraham Nigussie, emphasized the strong, longstanding relations between Israel and Ethiopia, and reiterated Israel’s willingness to share expertise in technology, agriculture, and education with Ethiopia.
