More Nigerian Investors to Come to Ethiopia as Country Opens Up: Nigeria’s Deputy Head of Mission
Addis Ababa: More Nigerian investors will come to Ethiopia as the country continues opening up its economy to private businesses, Nigeria’s Deputy Head of Mission Maxy Ogbede said.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the deputy head of mission at the Nigerian Embassy in Addis Ababa stated that Nigeria is looking at improved trade relations with Ethiopia. He indicated that more Nigerians will be attracted to Ethiopia as the nation opens its economy to private businesses.
Ogbede further noted that the Nigerian economy has also been open to investors from everywhere, and emphasized the desire for Nigerians to engage in business in Ethiopia. He highlighted the solid bilateral relations between the two countries, which have been strong since 1960.
Ogbede pointed to the frequent flights by Ethiopian Airlines to Lagos, Kano, and Abuja as evidence of the active exchange between the two nations. He mentioned that the countries are also aiming to strengthen ties regarding migration and visa policies.
The deputy head of mission expressed optimism about the future, considering that Nigeria and Ethiopia are the two most populous countries in Africa, with over 230 million and 120 million people respectively. He believes that the countries have significant potential to elevate their bilateral relations for mutual benefit.
He also noted the shared cultural heritages and multi-ethnic diversity between the nations, suggesting that these commonalities could foster even stronger ties. Ogbede emphasized the importance of reinforcing efforts to unite the people and enhance the relationship between the two populous African countries.
Finally, he reiterated the strong bilateral ties marked by shared values between Ethiopia and Nigeria.
