Minister, Partners Discuss Climate Resilience Building Project in Ethiopian Cities

Planning and Development Minister Fitsum Asefa and representatives of the Global Green Growth Institute and the Korea International Cooperation Agency discussed building climate resilience in Ethiopian cities through nature-based solutions in urban and peri-urban areas today.

During the discussion, the feasibility and implementation of the project that deals with building climate resilience in Ethiopian cities through nature-based solutions in urban and peri-urban areas were examined and the project developed.

According to Ministry of Planning and Development, the representative had fruitful discussion with respect to the project objective to catalyze urban green transformation and to enhance climate resilience in three selected Ethiopian cities within 6 years.

This project will focus mainly on urban resilience through restoring the ecosystems, afforestation, reforestation, and other nature-based solutions, it was learned.

In the meeting, Fitsum elaborated that the ministry has been implementing various climate change interventions to tackle the impacts of climate change and strengthen good practices and lessons on effective implementation adaptation and mitigation projects and programs.
