Minister of Tourism Stresses Capacity Building of Leadership to Develop Sector.
ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia’s Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa emphasized the importance of enhancing the execution capacity of leadership and professionals within the tourism sector to boost its economic impact on the nation’s development.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Ministry of Tourism and the African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on capacity building. During the signing event, Minister Selamawit reiterated the ministry’s dedication to advancing tourism destinations, highlighting that tourism is a critical component of the country’s Homegrown Economic Reform.
The minister underscored that strengthening the leadership and expertise within the tourism sector is crucial for contributing to Ethiopia’s national economic growth. The country is actively working to attract international tourists by enhancing visitor experiences and upgrading lodging facilities to meet global standards.
In the past six years, Ethiopia has developed s
everal tourist attractions, including Beynouna Village, Gorgora, Wonchi, and Koysha, as well as Unity Park, Entoto Park, Friendship Park, and the Science Museum in Addis Ababa. These developments aim to showcase Ethiopia’s rich natural, historical, and cultural heritage.
The MoU was signed by Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa and AFLEX President Zadig Abreha, marking a significant step towards improving the tourism sector’s capacity and leadership.
