Methodist Church Elevates Rt Rev Anthony Brown to Bishop of Assin-Fosu Diocese

ASSIN FOSU – The Methodist Church, Ghana, has recently celebrated the induction of the Right Reverend Dr Anthony Brown as the Bishop of the Assin Fosu Diocese in the Central Region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Brown succeeds Bishop Samuel K. Mensah and will lead the Diocese for a term of four years. The event was officiated by the Most Rev. Titus Awotwi-Pratt, a former Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, who emphasized the importance of humility in leadership for achieving sustainable development and peaceful coexistence. He counseled leaders to consider diverse perspectives across social and political spectrums, acknowledging the ultimate sovereignty of God over human endeavors.

The Most Rev. Awotwi-Pratt addressed Rt Rev Dr. Brown, highlighting that his leadership role is founded on divine grace as well as personal accomplishments. He challenged the new Bishop to extend his duties beyond administrative tasks and focus on evangelism, stating that the success of the Bishop equates to the success of the Church community.

Facing potential challenges, Rt Rev Dr. Brown was reminded to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. In his acceptance speech, Rt Rev Dr. Brown, who previously served the Assin-Akropong Society of the Church, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him. He solicited the congregation’s support for his tenure and committed to advancing the Diocese through initiatives such as supporting a hospital project, agricultural ventures, and a development fund.

Rt Rev Dr. Brown was born on July 24, 1964, in Akim Akroso, Eastern Region, and hails from Apam. He is married to Mrs. Evelyn Adwoa Benyiwah Brown and is a father to four children.
