The Minister of Trade and Industry of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Melaku Alebel, on the occasion said the country has overcome the global cholera epidemic of over three billion US dollars last year. Moreover, the fact that we have registered 3.64 billion USD in the 2021 fiscal year is an indication that better results can be achieved if it is coordinated and managed.
Minister of Trade and Industry, Melaku Alebel on his part said the government has been able to realize the significant growth in export performance over the past two years.
According to the Minister, today’s success lies in the fact that Ethiopia has been able to modernize and expand its economy and modernize its local economy.
“This is a testament to the resilience of the economic crisis that has been exacerbated by the recession, rather than a cure,” he said.
He said the change has led to the country’s economic reform, with a special focus on agriculture, industry, tourism and mining, as well as a direction from demand-led economy to supply-led economic development.
He recalled that the new policy reform and the changes that followed have enabled it to record the highest performance in export history.
He further said that expanding our export trade and increasing the amount of foreign exchange earned from the sector is crucial for the country’s healthy economic growth.
He thanked all those who have played their part in the best performance in the 2021 fiscal year and congratulated the winners of the day.
He called on investors not only to sell their produce but also to create jobs for those who are not engaged in the agricultural and manufacturing industries and to increase their national production.
“At this crucial time when Ethiopian mothers bless their children and fight for their country’s survival, we must fight the forces that are harming the people in the middle of the country,” Melaku said.
