INSA Prioritizes Cyber Security to Propel Ethiopia’s Digital Economy
DUBAI: The Information Network Security Administration (INSA) is intensifying its focus on cyber security as a crucial element of Ethiopia’s Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, aiming to facilitate the nation’s transition to a digital economy. Daniel Guta, Deputy Director-General of INSA, highlighted these efforts during a panel discussion at the GITEX 2024 Expo in Dubai. The panel, titled “Ethiopia 2025 Strategy and Cyber Security,” underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to bolstering its digital infrastructure.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Daniel emphasized the importance of national digital identity, electronic payment systems, and cyber security as integral components for the successful realization of Ethiopia’s digital transformation by 2025. He noted that significant measures have been implemented to enhance the country’s cyber security framework.
Daniel identified five key areas that INSA is concentrating on to ensure Ethiopia’s cyber security: ownership of knowledge and technology, institutional excel
lence, construction and protection of key infrastructures, building national and international partnerships and cooperation, and formulating a robust policy and legal framework. These pillars are essential to achieving the goals set out in the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy.
During the forum, Daniel also highlighted the role of the Ethiopian capital market and similar institutions in advancing the digital economy. He reiterated that INSA is committed to facilitating a secure transition to a digital economy and achieving the strategic objectives outlined for 2025. INSA’s proactive measures are aimed at safeguarding Ethiopia’s digital landscape and ensuring a robust and secure digital economy.
