IGAD Peace and Security Division Builds Capacities of its Staff in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.
IGAD Peace and Security Division build the capacities of its staff in a 4-day Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning training with a focus on major strategic objectives and priority areas, as well as the Peace and Security Sector Strategy. The objective of the training was to Improve the proficiency of participants in monitoring, evaluation, and learning and support their efforts in overseeing Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) for Peace and Security Division’s programs and its partners.
The training was engendered by the institutional objective to improve program and project management effectiveness, ensuring resource utilization efficiency and transparency. In addition to achieving program results in a better way, this training aimed at contributing to better performance at the organizational level.
Delivered in line with the Peace and Security Sector Strategy 2021-2025, the M & E training efforts ensured the contents fit the dynamics and peculiar nature of the peace and security sector programs. The contents of the M &E training were in line with major strategic objectives and priority areas of the Peace and Security division linking the following key programs: Conflict early warning and conflict resolution, Preventive Diplomacy and reconciliation, Security sector programming, Institutional capacity building and, Capability development.
At the end of the course, participants were able to identify the main components of an M&E plan; identify and differentiate between conceptual frameworks, results frameworks, and logic models; describe how frameworks are used for M&E planning, amongst acquiring other vital M&E skills.
