Haramaya University Conducted a Seedling Planting Program on Its Main Campus

The Postgraduate Program Directorate of Haramaya University conducted a planting of more than 2000 seedlings by mobilizing the newly arrived senior non-regular summer program students and the university community on morning August 04, 2021. The Associate Director for the Non-regular Postgraduate Program Directorate, Mr. Birhanu Sintayehu, explained that more than 400 non-regular (summer) students and the university community have participated in the plantation of seedling program. He added that in this program, it was planned to plant more than 4000 seedlings and more than 2000 different seedlings were planted.

Mr. Birhanu added that the main objective of the program is to contribute to the third national plan of Green Legacy to plant more than 6 billion seedlings as a Postgraduate Program Directorate of Haramaya University.

The Director of Postgraduate Program Directorate, Dr. Feyera Dinsa, who participated in this program, reiterated “we educate people and plant trees; people become nations and trees become forests”. Dr. Feyera emphasized that in addition to creating competent citizens through education, we have to protect our environment through planting tree to mitigate the serious impacts of climate change.
