Ghana’s Black Stars Suffer Defeat to Comoros in 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers
Accra, Ghana – The Black Stars of Ghana faced a setback in their quest for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, falling to a 1-0 defeat against Comoros in their second group match of Group I in the African qualifiers. This loss comes despite Ghana’s attempts to seek revenge against Comoros, who had previously defeated them at the last Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Ghana News Agency, In the group standings, Comoros now leads Group I with six points, followed by Mali with four points. Ghana and Madagascar are tied with three points each, while the Central African Republic holds one point. Chad remains at the bottom with no points from two matches. The deciding goal came from a first-half strike by Myziane Maolida, which the Black Stars failed to counter.
The team’s performance was lackluster in the first half, with no significant chances created. Despite a more spirited effort in the second half, Comoros maintained their lead to secure a victory. The Black Stars will look to improve their performance in the upcoming third and fourth matches of the qualifiers, scheduled for June 2024, to bolster their chances in the World Cup qualifying campaign.
