Four Arrested in Namibia for Livestock Theft and Violating Animal Health Regulations

MUKUNDA VILLAGE: Four men were detained by the Namibian Police Force for allegedly stealing livestock and violating the Animal Health Act in Mukunda village, located in the Kavango West Region. The arrests were made on Friday, following the discovery of the suspects with what is believed to be stolen livestock.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the police report issued on Sunday detailed that the suspects, including three Namibians and one Angolan national, were taken into custody after they were found in possession of two oxen, worth approximately N$15,000, which they had allegedly brought from Angola into Namibia without the necessary legal permissions. This action not only constitutes theft but also a breach of the Animal Health Act by failing to follow proper protocols for animal transfer between countries.

The Namibian authorities are continuing with their investigations to determine the full extent of the crimes committed. The police are also likely to explore whether this incident is part of a large
r pattern of livestock theft in the region.
