F.Y. Performance Review and Plan Implementation Direction Announcement

Addis Ababa University (AAU) Office of the Vice President of Administration and Student Service (VPASS) announced the last Fiscal Year (F.Y.) performance review and the next (2014 E.C) planning implementation direction at a meeting held in Bishoftu last weekend.

Matiwos Ensermu (PhD), Vice President of VPASS, in his opening remark, said that planning is the key responsibility of the management and important to monitor the implementation of the plan. “The work done should be reviewed every three and six months; gaps need to be identified and plan for the future should be made,” he added.

Matiwos said that all the management and research directors of the colleges should present their work planned and executed in the last F.Y. and explain to the audience what they have planned to implement in the next (2014 E.C).

“We have developed a reliable modern technology implementation system in finance, procurement, human resources, student services and other sectors. When problems happen, we will work with you to find solutions, and you must be strengthened,” Matiwos said.

W/ro Mihiret Desalegn, Managing Director of College of Law and Governance, in her Annual Performance Review said that one of the problems was lack of a clear structure in the college’s registry system and the fact that the files were cluttered and unorganized for a long time.

Ato Tadele Mulugeta, Managing Director at School of Commerce, said in his annual review that the Business School has produced various professionals and has contributed in many fields through the opening of various programs and is currently offering undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses.

However, Tadele lamented that the institute, which has been making significant contributions to the country’s education sector since its inception in 1935, is now in danger of disintegrating and merging with another institution.

Tadele recalled that the business school was registered as a historical heritage by the Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau in 2013. He and his colleagues will work has to continue the business school should stay in its historic location, Tadele added.

All Center Directors, Managing Directors, Vice President of Administration and Student Service, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Property and Sourcing Officer, VPASS Translation Expert and Executive Secretaries attended the meeting.
