Ethiopian Highland Leather Represented at the World Leather Congress
The World Leather Congress (WLC) and the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS), both of which are international conferences in the leather industry, took place at Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa on November 1st and 3rd to 5th, 2021. The JICA team set up a sponsor booth to promote Ethiopian Highland Leather (EHL) and gave a presentation on the national brand of sheepskin material.
The event, which was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was a hybrid event; connecting the venue in Addis Ababa with particpants around the world online.
During the poster presentation, the project introduced the project’s research on the scientific verification of the characteristics of Ethiopian sheepskin compared to sheepskin materials from other countries. The poster was displayed at the virtual poster presentation booth as well as at the sponsor booth at the venue. In addition, EHL products and photos of the project activities were displayed at the sponsor booth.
Since most of the participants joined online, we were not sure how well we could promote EHL products at the sponsor booth, but in fact, during the coffee breaks and lunch breaks between each session of the research presentations more people than we expected visited our booth and became interested in the project activities and EHL products. The project will continue to promote EHL to overseas markets.
