Ethiopian Government Amplifies Support for Manufacturing Industries
ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, has announced that comprehensive support is being extended to investors within the manufacturing sector to enhance production capacity and productivity.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, During a visit to Woda Industry Park in Sheger City, Oromia Region, alongside other high-ranking officials, according to a new release by the Ministry of Industry, discussions were held about increasing the production space as requested by the park’s management. This visit aimed to observe the manufacturing activities and to discuss how to best support the expansion and growth of these industries.
Minister Melaku Alebel remarked that the government is actively engaged in capacity building for investors in the manufacturing sector. This initiative is in line with the Home Grown Economic Reform program, which focuses on import substitution and export promotion.
The Vice President of Oromia Regional State, Awelu Abdi, affirmed the regional state’s commitment to provide full support to entrepreneurs in the manufacturing sector and addressed the need for expansion areas to be evaluated properly.
Tarekegne Bululta, the State Minister of Industry, mentioned that the visit’s purpose was to review the progress and address challenges faced by investors in the park. Once operating at full capacity, Woda Industrial Park is projected to offer employment for approximately 10,000 people and includes tenants from diverse sectors such as automotive, home electricity, rubber, power, and communication equipment.
