Ethiopian Diasporas Hail Government’s Policy towards Diaspora Engagement in Nat’l Agenda
Addis Ababa: Members of the diaspora community appreciated the policy of Ethiopian government to engage the diaspora in all affairs of their country.
Members of Ethiopian diaspora arrived recently in Ethiopia to participate at the 26th Harar International Day told ENA that the policy has been encouraging them to participate in all kinds of national affairs.
The diaspora from Europe, Australia, USA, Canada and several Asian countries planted tree seedlings today in Harar as part of this year’s green legacy initiative campaign.
On the occasion, they also lauded the national green legacy campaign initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, highlighting its significance in the overall development of the country.
Abubeker Ali and Bekri Ahmed, from Germany and Canada respectively, expressed joy for being part of this novel act by leaving their legacy vital to the country’s better future.

He further stressed the need for strong collaboration among all Ethiopians in attaining the goals of the initiative.
Members of the diaspora are encouraged to actively participate in investment, voluntarism and other important matters of their country as they are very much attracted by government’s measures being taken to create conducive environment for their better engagement.
The engagement of Ethiopian and Ethiopian origin diaspora community across the globe in their country’s multifaceted development endeavors has been growing following the reform. For instance, the diaspora has provided over 3.5 billion Birr in the last six years to support various development projects in form of cash and kind, it was learned.
