Ethiopia, UK Ink MoU to Work Together on Trade, Investment

Ethiopia and the United Kingdom (UK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would allow them to work together on Trade and investment, according to Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.

Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Gebremeskel Chala and Nigel Huddleston, British Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade signed the MoU.

The minister pointed out that Ethiopia has come a long way to join WTO. Gebremeskel added this is not the only goal for Ethiopia and should be competitive by increasing international investment.

On his part, Nigel Huddleston, UK’s Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade stated that UK has a long historical relationship with Ethiopia.

Accordingly, the minister pledged that we are ready to provide appropriate support from the United Kingdom to help Ethiopia in its effort for joining WTO.

The minister also said that the United Kingdom government will also provide the necessary support for Ethiopia by working together focusing on economic diplomacy and improve its trade balance.
