Ethiopia Seeks Urban Development Insights and Enhanced Bilateral Relations from Malaysia Visit
Addis ababa: Ethiopia has gained valuable insights into urban development and strengthened its bilateral ties with Malaysia following a recent visit by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation. During the visit, the Ethiopian officials engaged in discussions about trade, investment, and economic cooperation with their Malaysian counterparts.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Government Communication Service Minister Legese Tulu highlighted the benefits of the visit, noting that Malaysia’s rapid economic growth serves as a model for Ethiopia. Malaysia’s diverse economy is primarily driven by industry, agriculture, and mining sectors. The discussions between Prime Minister Abiy and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim focused on enhancing trade relations and exploring investment opportunities in both nations. Malaysian companies have been invited to participate in investment ventures in Ethiopia.

s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations. In a gesture of reciprocity, Prime Minister Abiy extended an invitation to Prime Minister Ibrahim to visit Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian delegation also examined Malaysia’s integrated economic and environmental protection initiatives, which are aligned with Ethiopia’s efforts in sustainable development. Malaysia’s successful corridor development in Kuala Lumpur, combining trade and tourism, was of particular interest to the Ethiopian team. This model is seen as a potential blueprint for similar projects in Ethiopian cities.
Minister Legese emphasized the significance of this exchange, suggesting that Malaysia’s experiences in urban development and environmental protection can provide valuable lessons for Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts in these areas.
