He also urged Ethiopia to continue its support in strengthening the center.

Africa CDC, located in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa, was established in January 2016 during the 26th Ordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government and officially inaugurated in January 2017. It is a public health agency of the African Union to support the public health initiatives of member states and strengthen the capacity of their health institutions to deal with disease threats.

Africa CDC provides support to Member States in delivering coordinated and comprehensive solutions to address deficiencies in their public health systems, workforce capabilities, disease monitoring, laboratory testing, and readiness for health emergencies and disasters. The organization functions as a forum for Member States to share insights and experiences derived from public health initiatives.
