Ethiopia: Health Cluster Bulletin, December 2022

Highlights

• Humanitarian access to Tigray Region has been granted, access by road is through four-corridors and by air commercial flights have resumed

• Health partners have scaled-up humanitarian response in Tigray Region, over 434 metric tons of medical commodities have been prepositioned

• The country continues to experience multiple disease outbreaks such as Cholera, Measles,

COVID-19 and malaria

• January – December 2022, health cluster partners have reached over 6.3 million (70%) beneficiaries Including IDPs, returnees and host populations living in 369 woredas across the country with essential health care services

• 447,813 cases of malnutrition have been reported from January to December 2022 including 58,273 cases admitted with medical complications of which 604 died.

• WHO conducted water quality assessment in drought-affected woredas and found low free residual chlorine (FRC) levels and high fecal coliform contamination of drinking water sources
