Ethiopia Expresses Commitment to Expand Trade, Investment with Indonesia
Addis Ababa: Ethiopia is fully committed to exploring avenues for capacity building, investment promotion, and trade facilitation with Indonesia, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ethiopia held a diplomatic reception in Addis Ababa on Thursday to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
The reception was attended by Ethiopian high ranking officials, foreign Ambassadors, diplomats, academicians, among other invited guests.
Speaking at occasion, Ambassador Negus Kebede, Director General for Middle East, and Asia Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the diplomatic relation between Ethiopia and Indonesia has flourished from time to time.
“While celebrating our shared history, we must also seize this opportunity to focus on converting our strong political ties into substantial economic partnerships.”
Hence, he reaffirmed that Ethiopia is fully committed to exploring avenues for capacity building, investmen
t promotion, and trade facilitation with Indonesia.
Moreover, he added we are deeply appreciative of the academic scholarships offered by the Indonesian Government, which have played a vital role in advancing academic exchange and human resource development.
Both Indonesia and Ethiopia have the potential to be significant global players in addressing shared challenges such as climate change, peace and security, food security, and global health issues.
Deepening the economic collaboration is vital as we navigate these challenges together, he added.
Indonesia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Al Busyra Basnur said Indonesia and Ethiopia enjoying over six decades of diplomatic relations.
“Our relationship is growing rapidly from year to year. Our bilateral cooperation between our two countries is expanding significantly in all sectors, especially in economy, social and people to people contact,” the ambassador added.
Moreover, he elaborated that Indonesia and Ethiopia have an excellent cooperation in the non-align
ed movement since its establishment in 1961.
