Ethiopia and France Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Relations.
Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Gedion Timothewos and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noël Barrot, have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the enduring bilateral relationship between their two nations. The ministers met on Friday to discuss a range of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador Nebiat Getachew briefed the media on the fruitful discussions between Gedion and the visiting French Minister. The talks included an exchange of views on regional and global peace and security issues.
The bilateral discussions addressed existing areas of cooperation, including education, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and regional security, as well as other global issues. The ministers agreed to identify potential areas of cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to elevate the bilateral relationship between France and Ethiopia.

at highlighted France’s role as a key partner in Ethiopia’s development efforts, contributing to major projects such as the renovation of the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, the Jubilee Palace, and the rehabilitation of hospitals. The discussions also emphasized the importance of cultural and educational exchanges to strengthen ties between the peoples of the two countries.
Furthermore, the ministers explored ways to enhance French investment in Ethiopia, recognizing the wide range of economic opportunities available. On matters of peace and security in Africa, Foreign Minister Gedion emphasized the need for concerted efforts and cooperation among international and regional actors to ensure sustainable peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
The Spokesperson noted that the French Minister’s visit underscores the high importance France places on its relationship with Ethiopia.
