Elephant Attack Results in Fatal Trampling of Woman in Namibia
Mutjiku Village: A 44-year-old woman was killed in Mutjiku village, Kavango East Region, after being attacked and trampled by elephants. The incident occurred around 21:00 on Thursday, according to local authorities.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, regional crime investigations coordinator for the Namibian Police Force, reported that the victim, identified as Maria Moyo, encountered the elephants while they were heading to a river for water. It was during this encounter that she was trampled to death. Moyo was on her way home at the time of the attack. Following the incident, her body was transported to the Andara Catholic Hospital mortuary. Local police have informed Moyo’s next of kin and are continuing their investigation into the tragic event.
