In the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League (WPL), Ladystrikers’ captain Edem Atovor played a pivotal role in securing their first win of the season against Jonina Ladies FC. Her impressive performance in match-day two not only contributed to the team’s victory but also showcased her skills as a formidable player in the league.

According to Ghana News Agency, Atovor, who is also a defender for the Black Queens, made a significant impact by scoring twice against the newly introduced Jonina Ladies FC. Her first goal came just two minutes before the end of the first half, setting a strong pace for the Ladystrikers. She followed up with her second goal in the 70th minute, consolidating the team’s lead.

Despite Ladystrikers’ dominant performance, leading 2-0 for a significant part of the match, Jonina Ladies managed to narrow the margin. Agnes Yeboah scored for Jonina Ladies in the 77th minute, bringing the score to 2-1. This match marked Jonina Ladies’ second defeat of the season, following their earlier 1-0 loss to Soccer Intellectuals.

For her outstanding contribution to the game, Atovor was named the Nasco MVP of the match, a testament to her skill and leadership on the field.
