ECSU Graduates Summer Youth Trainees

Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) graduated the second round two hundred trainees of the special summer youth public servants capacity enhancement training programs on September 7, 2021 at Abay Hall. The trainees were recruited from different federal government institutions.

In his keynote address His Excellency Ato Bezabih Gebreyes, Commissioner for Civil Service Commission, congratulated the trainees for their successful accomplishment of the summer youth public servants capacity enhancement training programs . He also noted what makes this training different from the usual types of training is that it focuses on mindfulness training so that our country can reach the place we want in the future by paying a due attention to the youths in the civil service.  It is difficult for the youth with advanced technological skills and hope and ambition, to keep up with the existing system of bureaucracy. Therefore, the coming generation must work hard to change and modernize this bureaucratic culture in the country.  In this regard, this training will play a key role Ato Bezabih said.  He also requested the trainees to think beyond the horizon, regardless of the financial and material benefit they can get from the current bureaucracy, and work hard for the betterment of the service delivery system in their respective institutions and the country at large by applying the knowledge and skills they obtained from the training.

Dr. Waqgari Negari, Vice President for Training and Consultancy Division, on his part, congratulated the trainees and strongly advised them to examine themselves by making self-assessment of how much they have changed by the trainings they have received, and to enhance their capacity and skills and expand their knowledge by adding more self- trainings to the nine training topics they have taken during their stay at the university. On the program Dr. Azeb Assefa, summer youth training project coordinator, pointed out that the training was delivered on nine training topics to trainees from twelve institutions including ECSU. According to Dr. Azeb, the training was aimed at creating vibrant young civil servants who have personal and national vision and fulfill their social roles. The work of enhancing the capacity of the youth civil servants and creating strong young civil servants who will play their national roles over their personal-interest will be further strengthened in the future.
