Dutch MPs Updated on Current Situation in Ethiopia
(ENA) Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Netherlands Million Samuel updated some members of the Foreign Trade and Development Committee of the Dutch parliament on the current situation in the Tigray region and on the negotiations of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
In a statement made to the committee, the ambassador explained the objectives of the law enforcement measure in the Tigray region and activities undertaken to address humanitarian issues, according to Ethiopian Embassy in the Netherlands.
He also told the members of the committee about the independent investigation being underway to investigate the alleged human rights abuses in Tigray, preparations to hold a free and fair election as well as the way forward to build national consensus among Ethiopians.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the support from partners such as the Netherlands in responding to the humanitarian needs of Ethiopian in Tigray, who have been severely affected by the conflict.
Ambassador Million responded to questions and points of clarifications posed by the lawmakers and requested the Netherlands to continue to stand by Ethiopia in supporting its development endeavors and democratic reform agenda on the basis of the long-standing relations of partnership between our two countries.
