Deputy Prime Minister Holds Discussion with U.S. Special Envoy to Horn of Africa

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen held discussion today with Jeffrey Feltman, the U.S. Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa.

During the discussion, the Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa explained the American idea about ending the war with the terrorist TPLF and the deputy premier described Ethiopia’s position.

Demeke told Feltman that humanitarian assistance flights have been allowed to enter Kombolcha and Lalibela; and 369 trucks carrying aid were also permitted to enter Tigray.

The officials also discussed the situation of American citizens in various parts of Ethiopia.

The deputy prime minister stated that TPLF is still carrying out attacks in Afar and Amhara regions, causing severe human and economic as well as psychological damages. He stressed that pressure should be exerted on the group to leave the two regions.
