Defending Sovereignty of Ethiopia Will Continue to be Upheld by People of Nation: PM Abiy
Addis Ababa: Defending the sovereignty of Ethiopia will continue to be upheld by the united efforts of its people,Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underscored.
The thirteenth Month of Pagume, which marks Ethiopia’s transitional period, has been commemorated nationally under various themes since the reforms.
And this year Ethiopia is celebrating pagumen, known as the “Thirteenth Ethiopian Month” at national level with specific purposes before the Ethiopian New Year.
Today, Pagume 3 (September 8, 2024) is being commemorated as a ‘Sovereignty Day’, nationwide to highlight the importance of National Sovereignty in all spheres of the country which is critically vital to ensuring prosperity.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on his social media post this morning that the name Ethiopia has long been associated with honor, excellence, and freedom.
Throughout its history, Ethiopia has maintained its sovereignty and never invaded another country. However, he added that the country has always defended itself against those wh
o threatened its sovereignty. And this will continue to be upheld by the united efforts of its people.
Abiy also stated that sovereignty is not only about the sovereignty of national boundary but also encompasses all spheres of .
The sovereignty of food, technology budget are key pillars that maintain sovereignty of the great nation, Abiy underscored, stressing the need to have new kind of national patriotism to ensure the sovereignty of these sectors.
