Czech Republic Pledges to Align Development Programs with Ethiopian Initiatives.
Addis Ababa: The Czech Republic has affirmed its commitment to aligning its development programs with Ethiopia’s initiatives, as stated by Petr Gandalovic, Director of the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Department at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Gandalovic expressed this commitment during an exclusive interview, emphasizing the long-standing cooperation between the two nations that spans various regions in Ethiopia and focuses on humanitarian aid and development efforts.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Gandalovic highlighted the Czech Republic’s active engagement in Ethiopia, particularly in sectors such as education, natural resource management, and humanitarian aid. He noted the satisfaction with the cooperation, which primarily targets social development and sustainable management practices. One notable initiative is the water project in the Sidama region, where the Czech Republic not only provides access to water but also educates local communities on sustainable management, t
eaching them to share resources and establish payment systems to ensure the project’s sustainability.
Gandalovic stressed the importance of addressing climate change through actions at all levels, from grassroots efforts to strategic federal policies. He emphasized the need for effective local projects to demonstrate the possibility of real change. The Czech Republic aims to align its development programs with Ethiopian projects and collaborate with other European countries under the team Europe spirit.
Furthermore, Gandalovic recognized the mutual benefits of the cooperation, with Czech experts gaining valuable insights from working alongside their Ethiopian counterparts.
