Council of Ministers Approves Key Legislative Measures
Addis Ababa: The Council of Ministers discussed draft bills and passed decisions today during its 42nd regular session.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the council deliberated on several critical issues, beginning with the draft proclamation of the Disaster Risk Management Commission. This proclamation aims to enhance Ethiopia’s resilience in disaster response and promote a culture of mutual assistance among citizens. It seeks to provide humanitarian aid through national capacity, aligning with sustainable development and peace, while addressing economic, social, and moral impacts on affected citizens.
After thorough discussion and incorporating additional inputs, the council unanimously approved the proclamation and forwarded it to the House of People’s Representatives.
The Council also examined draft regulations for establishing three defense institutions: the Ethiopian Defense University, the Defense Specialized Referral Hospital Group and Defense Diagnostic Center, and the Defense Engineering Industrial Group. The regulation for the Ethiopian Defense University focuses on restructuring and operational changes to meet its objectives. The draft regulation for the Defense Specialized Referral Hospital Group and Defense Diagnostic Center intends to address national medical needs and provide advanced medical services domestically. Meanwhile, the Defense Engineering Industrial Group’s regulation defines its duties for national development.
Following in-depth discussions and input integration, the council unanimously approved these regulations, set to take effect upon publication in the Negarit Gazette.
