Construction of Circus Show, Training Center Well Underway in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa: The construction of a new circus show and training center in Entoto Park, Addis Ababa, is progressing rapidly, with expectations to boost the arts and tourism sectors in Ethiopia.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister of Culture and Sport, Shewit Shanka, recently visited the site alongside other ministry officials to inspect the ongoing project. The construction, spearheaded by renowned Circus Ethiopia performer Sosina Wogayehu, covers an extensive area of 16,400 square meters and has been in progress for the past two years.
The facility is slated for completion within the next year and aims to serve not just as a local but also as a continental hub for circus arts. The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the project’s timely and quality completion and lauded Sosina Wogayehu for her significant investment in the development of the arts.

r cultural and economic growth. Sosina Wogayehu, the project’s patron, expressed that the center’s goal is to elevate the status of circus arts in Ethiopia and to establish the country as a premier destination for circus arts in Africa. The center will feature various facilities including spaces for circus performances, art and dance training, a museum, a youth hostel, and a restaurant.
