Chairperson of AU Commission Praises Ethiopia-Somalia Agreement Reached in Ankara
ADDIS ABABA: Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has expressed approval for the recent agreement signed between Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The accord was finalized in Ankara, with the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the agreement marks a significant step forward in the relationship between the two neighboring countries. Chairperson Mahamat emphasized the importance of this development, urging both leaders to promptly implement the measures outlined in the agreement. His statement highlighted the leaders’ demonstration of high responsibility by opting for dialogue and consultation as means to resolve their differences.
Mahamat also extended his congratulations to President Erdogan for facilitating the discussions and supporting the leaders in reaching a consensus. The Chairperson underscored the significance of this agreement in fostering peace and cooperation for the bene
