Bofoakwa Tano Secures Narrow Victory Over Nations FC in Ghana Premier League
Bofoakwa Tano FC clinched a critical win against Kumasi-based Nations FC in the matchday nine fixtures of the betPawa Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season, held on Sunday. The match, which concluded with a slender one-goal margin, adds to the challenges faced by Nations FC, potentially pushing them further down the league table.
According to Ghana News Agency, the game took place at the Sunyani Coronation Park, a favored venue for Bofoakwa. The home team demonstrated their intent to dominate early in the match, which was actualized when their captain, Saaka Dauda, scored the only goal in the 4th minute. Dauda’s successful penalty conversion, awarded after Bright Boakye Kyere was fouled in the 18-yard box, set the tone for the match. Following this early goal, the game’s pace diminished, with both teams struggling to establish a consistent rhythm, leading to the first half concluding with Bofoakwa’s slim lead.
Nations FC, however, made a promising start to the second half, creating opportunities that included hitting the crossbar and compelling a save from Bofoakwa’s goalkeeper, Emmanuel Kobi. Despite these efforts, the match remained tightly contested without any change in the scoreline.
The game’s intensity peaked in the 93rd minute when Nations FC’s Emmanuel Sarkodie received a red card for his foul on Bofoakwa Tano’s Elijah Addai.
In the post-match conference, Mr. Ocansey Mingle Kassim, the coach of Nations FC, described the game as highly competitive. He asserted that his team performed better but expressed disappointment over their inability to convert opportunities in the second half into goals, especially after recovering from the early setback of the penalty.
On the other side, Coach Frimpong Manso of Bofoakwa Tano highlighted the strategic importance of game management, particularly when scoring opportunities are limited. He explained that adopting such a strategy was crucial for Bofoakwa Tano to secure the three points from this fixture.
