Beijing University to Enhance Ethio-China Relations with Ethiopian Language Studies
ADDIS ABABA: Sun Yunzhong, Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), announced plans to strengthen Ethio-China relations through the introduction of Ethiopian language study programs, specifically Amharic.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, During a meeting with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ delegation, led by Spokesperson Director General, Yunzhong confirmed that the first group of students studying the Amharic language at BFSU is set to graduate soon. This initiative is part of the university’s broader effort to enhance people-to-people connections between Ethiopia and China.
Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Meles Alem, expressed his appreciation for BFSU’s efforts and proposed the inclusion of additional Ethiopian languages in the university’s curriculum. Ambassador Meles emphasized the significance of these students in furthering bilateral relations, stating that they will serve as ambassadors for both countries upon completing their studies.
The meeting also featured a presentation by Ambassador Meles Alem at the African and Asia Studies College of BFSU, focusing on the state of Ethio-China relations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
