Bangladesh Plans Strategic Investment Expansion in Ethiopia: Ambassador Bodiruzzaman.
Addis Ababa: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Ethiopia, Sikder Bodiruzzaman, highlighted Bangladesh’s plans to expand its investments in Ethiopia, specifically in the pharmaceuticals, garment, and leather sectors. In an exclusive interview, he emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and fostering people-to-people interactions between the two nations.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Bodiruzzaman expressed Bangladesh’s interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation with Ethiopia across various sectors, including business, culture, and tourism. He pointed out the strengths of Bangladesh in pharmaceuticals, leather, and frozen seafood, suggesting these as potential areas for collaboration.
Bangladesh has already made investments in Ethiopia, such as the DBL Group garment factory in the Tigray region. The ambassador noted plans to further expand investments in pharmaceuticals, garments, and leather industries. He stressed the need to enhance bilateral ties, highlighting Bangladesh’
s huge export basket and skilled manpower, many of whom are contributing to the Ethiopian economy.
Bodiruzzaman also emphasized the significance of promoting people-to-people interaction as a key factor in fostering relations and cultural exchanges. He pointed to the recent launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ flight to Dhaka as an important step in promoting cultural exchanges and business linkages between the two countries.
He added that although Ethiopia is a larger nation, Bangladesh offers unique attractions that can enrich cultural exchanges. The ambassador underlined the strong bond between Bangladeshis and Ethiopians, viewing them as cherished brothers and friends.
