André Ayew Joins French Club Le Havre for 2023/24 Season

Le Havre, France – André Ayew, the 33-year-old captain of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, has completed a transfer to French football club Le Havre as a free agent for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ayew, a seasoned forward, concluded negotiations with Le Havre after considering offers from several top European clubs. His move has garnered significant attention, particularly in light of his recent absence from active club football, a topic of interest amid Ghana’s preparations for upcoming international competitions. Ayew’s last club appearance was in the 2022/23 Premier League season, where he played 13 games for Nottingham Forest, also as a free agent.

Ayew’s football journey includes a notable stint with Olympique Marseille from 2007 to 2015, where he scored 44 goals across 160 appearances. He has achieved success in French football before, having won the French Ligue Cup twice. His move to Le Havre, which was ranked sixth in the league at the time of his signing, is seen as an opportunity for him to make significant contributions to the team.

In addition to his club commitments, Ayew is set to lead the Black Stars in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations. His leadership and experience are expected to be pivotal for Ghana’s national team in these major international tournaments.
