An agreement was signed to produce better quality leather products and expand job creation
(MOTI) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MasterCard Foundation to promote job creation and better quality of leather products by supporting micro and small enterprises.
The agreement aims to improve the quality of domestic leather products and expand job creation in the sector.
Minister of Trade and Industry, Melaku Alebel, on his part said the agreement will create job opportunities for university graduates in small and medium enterprises as well as create market linkages for domestic products.
He also said that the agreement will create jobs for more than 1,000 university graduates in the first round.
Alemayehu Konde, Managing Director of the MasterCard Foundation of Ethiopia, on his part said the foundation is a charity set up to support job creation, training and financing of young people. He said it will help ensure benefits.According to Alemayehu, there are many industrial parks in Ethiopia, he said, adding that the foundation will provide financial support to university graduates to create jobs after the practical training provided by them.
