AMCEN Consultative Meeting Convenes in Baku.
Baku: The African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), chaired by Ethiopia, has convened its consultative meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, coinciding with the proceedings of COP29.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the session is led by AMCEN President Fitsum Assefa, who is also Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development. The meeting gathers African leaders, experts, and partners to deliberate on pressing environmental challenges, climate negotiations, and sustainable development priorities for the continent.
The key topics on the agenda include updates from the Africa Group of Negotiators on Climate Change, insights from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) regarding climate science, and discussions about the involvement of African authors. Additionally, there are talks concerning the upcoming 20th Ordinary Session of AMCEN, underscoring the commitment to addressing environmental issues strategically.
