Addis Ababa University Conducts Managerial Level Training
Addis Ababa University (AAU), Office of Human Resource, organized a two days leadership and management training for more than 60 AAU mid and top level managers at Sarem International Hotel from the 23rd to 24th of September 2021.
The training focused on management concepts, theories, fundamentals, characteristics and functions in relation to the Addis Ababa University managing systems and styles.
The training was conduct in a way that the trainer’s, Temesgen Dagne (PhD), briefing followed by group discussion and reflections.
The trainees could see the overall leading and managing styles of AAU in terms of organizational planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling.
The trainees also evaluated their organization based on SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats).
According to the SWOT analysis, AAU is strong as being led by strategic plan, created global reputation improving its raking year after year, well involved in almost all mega projects of the country, striving for self authorization and others.
On the other hand, lack of employees’ motivation followed by frequent staff turnover, miss managing of properties, lengthy bureaucracy, political interference, budget inadequacy and the like were mentioned as weaknesses of the University.
Government as well as community trust and acceptance, international recognition, striving towards self authorization, ample possible areas of income generation, owning sole institutions in continental level, being existed in the country’s capital and the like were mentioned as basic opportunities of AAU.
