Accra Lions Overcome Heart of Lions in Tense Match to Escape Relegation Zone

ACCRA — In a gripping encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Accra Lions triumphed over Kpando Heart of Lions with a score of 2-1 during the eighth matchday, marking a significant leap out of the relegation zone.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Accra Lions gained an early advantage due to two successful first-half strikes from Daniel Kwame Awuni and Ali Mohammed. This victory handed the Heart of Lions their first loss for the season and propelled the Accra team to the 14th position on the league table, while their counterparts sank to the bottom with just six points.

The match unfolded with high energy, with the Accra Lions dominating early play and capitalizing on a critical error by the Heart of Lions goalkeeper Osae, which led to Mohammed’s goal. The lead was further solidified by Awuni’s finish from a well-orchestrated move before the break.

Despite falling behind, the Heart of Lions mounted a robust campaign in the second half, aiming to even the score. Their efforts were partially rewarded when Christopher Agyeman Boateng found the net in the 77th minute. However, this late goal was insufficient to overturn the result, as the Accra Lions clung to their advantage, securing a critical win.
