Abiy Reaffirms Government’s Commitment for Durable Peace, Security.
Addis Ababa: The government of Ethiopia has remained committed to ensure durable peace and security, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underlined. Addressing members of the parliament, the Premier stated that the government always opts for peace over forceful approach.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the government has prioritized peaceful resolution of conflicts. The nation has still a strong position to solve disputes with any force peacefully, he revealed. However, he stated that nobody can achieve its goal through forceful ways, stressing the need to patiently contemplate the issues since a struggle without thought is unsuccessful.
Recalling conflicts that have resulted in tremendous destruction in Ethiopia during various courses of history, the Premier renewed his government’s call for peace to achieve its ambition of bringing tangible development to the country. Speaking on the current security situation of the Amhara and Oromya regions, Abiy highlighted that there are some peace talk processes with those
who are seeking to achieve their interests by force.
He also called on all concerned parties to contribute their fair share in this ongoing peace process, affirming the commitment of the government to ensuring lasting peace. Abiy also emphasized the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission and Transitional Justice policy that deserves strong support to achieve better success.
In this sense, the government will continue to strengthen its support as an executive body. Therefore, the Prime Minister elaborated that it is necessary to work hard for a strong nation state building by addressing problems through dialogue and forgiveness. He also stressed the need for establishing a shared narrative that would ensure harmony based on constitutional and democratic principles.
