AAU Signs MoU with University of South Africa (UNISA)
Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed a MoU with the University of South Africa (UNISA) to work together on various areas at Addis Hilton Hotel on the 29th of August 2022.
Information from AAU authorities during the signing event indicated that the University has been recording high-level organizational progress every year through its multi-faceted research, teaching-learning as well as community service activities.
The information added that AAU has signed several working agreements with various international research institutions in liaison with its progressive changes that helped it to achieve various remarkable results, and the agreement with UNISA is part of it.
The MoU between the two higher institutions was signed by Professor Tassew Woldehana, President of Addis Ababa University and Professor Puleng LenkaBula, the Vice Chancellor of the University of South Africa.
It was further stated that the agreement is to work together in education, science, research, community service, human resource development, institution building, experience sharing and other areas.
As stated by Prof. Tassew, the cooperative agreement between the two Universities in various fields will have a great role in improving the lives of a number of Africans. The basic collaborative area will be experience sharing in education and research fields, he added.
“Working very hard to implement this joint cooperative agreement will enable the parties to bring about fruitful results for their countries and Africa as a whole and we need to ascend such agreements in all African countries’ universities,” Prof. Tassew said.
“I believe that it will be a working agreement where we can learn from each other by sharing our diverse experiences in different fields of education,” Prof. Tassew finally said.
Prof. Puleng LenkaBula expressing her proud of UNISA agreed with AAU to cooperate, it will be helpful to do continuous works in the fields of technology, research, education, and training between the two institutions and beyond.
The Vice Chancellor also said that the University of South Africa is working on a road map to expand its reach in the fields of human resource development, science and diplomacy education in East African countries, including Ethiopia.
Other stakeholders, including the senior officials of the two Universities attended the signing event held in Addis Hilton Hotel.
